According to equipment requirements:
Sand mill: Generally, zirconia balls with a particle size of 0.4-3mm are selected. According to the size and processing capacity of the ball mill, the diameter of the balls can be adjusted appropriately. For example, small ball mills can use balls with a diameter of 0.4-1.0mm, while large ball mills can choose balls with a diameter of 1.0-3.0mm. In addition, it is also necessary to consider the rotational speed of the ball mill and the filling rate of the grinding medium, and select zirconia ball models with appropriate hardness and density to ensure grinding efficiency and normal operation of the equipment.
Ball mill: The ball mill has relatively large requirements for the particle size of zirconia balls, usually between 5-50mm. For large-diameter ball mills, zirconia balls with a diameter of 20-50mm can be selected; while for small ball mills, balls with a diameter of 5-20mm can be used. When selecting the model, according to the lining material of the ball mill and the properties of the grinding material, select zirconia balls with good wear resistance and impact resistance.
According to material characteristics:
Material particle size: If the initial particle size of the material is large and a large grinding force and impact force are needed for crushing and grinding, zirconia balls with a larger particle size can be selected, such as 3-10mm; if the particle size of the material is already small and fine grinding and dispersion are required, then zirconia balls with a smaller particle size should be selected, such as 0.5-3mm.
Material hardness: For materials with high hardness, such as ceramic powder, ore, etc., zirconia balls with higher hardness need to be selected to ensure effective grinding and crushing of the material. For materials with lower hardness, such as some organic pigments, food powders, etc., zirconia ball models with slightly lower hardness but better toughness can be selected to avoid pollution to the material caused by the breakage and wear of the balls.
